Joomla 1.0 end of life statement.

November 25th, 2008

This wont be news to people who follow Joomla or keep in touch with its development, but Joomla 1.0 has been officially given an end of life. You can read the official statement that comes from the Community site on Joomla here. Im somewhat relieved to hear this given that maintaining packages for both Joomla 1.5 and Joomla 1.0 is time consuming to say the least and with the thought of Joomla 1.6 around the corner its a little nerve racking.

A quick check of the download logs on Joomla Bamboo suggest that there is still quite a demand for Joomla 1.0 (the download ratio is something like 4:1 to Joomla 1.5). I imagine there will be quite a few sites that wont make the leap to J1.5 but may want to keep their site fresh and redesign with a new joomla skin - so there will still be a demographic who will require a Joomla 1.0 native template. My thought is that once the ratio gets down to 8:1 or even 10:1 at that point we may well stop producing templates for Joomla 1.0 … but until that time we will continue to support the framework.

Jacka Lawyers is almost ready for launch.

October 10th, 2008

One of the major projects Ive been working on over the last few months is the new website for Jacka Lawyers. Tim Jacka is a Melbourne based lawyer who is set to revolutionise the client/practitioner relationship by using a collection of forms, a client messaging and feedback component all synced to his project manager of choice - Daylight by MarketCircle. The first stage of the development is due for launch early next week and we are hoping to have the forms and client system locked down in a few weeks.

Joomla Security Release and a new look for Joomla.org..

August 14th, 2008

Joomla, org rebootJoomla 1.5.6 has been released as a security update to fix an urgent security vulnerability. If you have used one of our quick start packages to build your site then we advise you to upgrade your site immediately. Here is a link to the upgrade page for Joomla - make sure you take a look at the version of Joomla that you have installed before you start the upgrade.

And while we are at it Joomla.org has a brand spanking new design on the home page. First impressions are that its a very professional retake on the old design that we know and possibly love and it has a nice clean and crisp edge. I wouldnt say that its ground breaking but it’s softer on the eye - which is a good thing.

Reboot Blue Bamboo.

August 4th, 2008

RebootThe Blue Bamboo site has been much unloved over the last few months and we are happy to say that we have rebooted the design and the platform. Joomla has been long been our cms of choice when developing for clients but we thought we would expand our range a little and setup home base on Wordpress.
